teriyaki steak salad

We recently hosted Chef Shirley Karasawa,

at Sizzleworks for an evening of Izakaya, or Japanese bar foods! It was stupendous, and her teriyaki sauce was superb! So, my husband and I decided to make a steak salad for dinner, and I opted to recreate Chef Shirley’s teriyaki. As you can see form the recipe, it calls for sake — however, I had none. BUT, I did have coconut lemongrass sake, so I went with that.  Here’s how it turned out …

(mixed in advance until sugar dissolves):

2 tablespoons sugar (I use superfine sugar)
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup sake (see the photo below for the coconut lemongrass stuff)
2 teaspoons wasabi paste
1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
coconut lemngrass sake
I’m still dreaming about this!!!
