caffe shakerato!

I’m back from Italy, bearing great memories, an extra pound or two, and some fantastic new recipes! One of my favorite experiences of the trip was a day spent with Chef Judy Witts, at her cooking school in Colle Val D’Elsa, in the beautiful hills of Chianti. Judy’s school, La Divina Cucina is located at the base of a beautiful old walled hill town bearing the same name.

On our trek to shop for class, we all stopped by the local bar where Judy introduced us to Caffe Shakerato, a cool, refreshing espresso drink prepared just for us!

Caffe Shakerato

double shot of espresso,freshly brewed
1 to 2 teaspoons sugar
about 1/2 cup of ice

Pour the espresso and sugar over ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake well, and strain into a martini glass, or serve with the ice, as Judy requested (silly Americans!). YOu may garnish with a lemon twist if desired. And of course, enjoy!
