pike’s place market tour

Truffles — they were the absolute hands-down favorite flavor of the day on yesterday’s field trip. I and 10 of my students went into Seattle to visit my favorite food places — Uwajimaya, PFI, Pike’s Place Market, and of course, have a little lunch at the Pink Door. It was a great opportunity for me to connect with a few students in a more personal setting, to talk about “How do we choose this, what do we do with that?” And, there was a LOT of sampling going on, from cheeses to produce, but by far and away, the best sampling was at La Buona Tavola — my favorite store for all things truffle. We tasted the potato and leek soup before and after (if you have been in my class, you know how much I LOVE this!), truffle oils, truffle salts, balsamic vinegars, and the piece de resistance — truffle honey. Just let me sum this up to say, La Buona Tavola sells MAGIC!”
